Local damage repair techniques for conveyor belts can extend their service life. Let's take a look together:
Local hot vulcanization: This is what people commonly refer to as hot fluidization of the conveyor belt and requires a vulcanizing machine. Local cold bonding uses repair strips (for longitudinal cracks) and cold adhesive – T2 composite glue – to fill and block the cracks longitudinally (requires a special glue gun). The advantages of these two methods are that they require less manpower and materials and have good wear resistance and reinforcement performance, with a short recovery time. The disadvantage is that they have high environmental requirements and cannot restore the surface to the original smoothness of the conveyor belt.
Conveyor belt spraying repair technology: This technique mixes several liquid materials through special equipment and sprays them under high pressure onto the worn surface of the belt, applying a certain thickness of wear-resistant layer as needed. It has a short curing time and is suitable for localized wear areas that are connected in patches, with very good results. The disadvantage is that it requires special equipment.
Improving the conveyor belt loading hopper: Improving the loading hopper is one of the effective measures to prevent early damage to the conveyor belt. Improving the loading hoppers at the transfer points of various belt conveyors increases their ability to handle foreign objects by 2.5 times, making it difficult for large or long foreign objects to get stuck between the hopper wall and the conveyor belt during transport, reducing the probability of foreign objects tearing the belt.
The guide skirt at the loading hopper should have an increasing gap along the running direction of the conveyor belt, solving the problem of coal or stone blocks getting stuck between the belt and the skirt, thereby eliminating damage to the belt caused by this issue. For hoppers with a large drop, inner buffer baffles are installed to prevent materials from directly impacting the conveyor belt.
The methods for local repair of conveyor belts have been introduced here. We hope this will help improve your understanding.
